TITLE: Database Specialist, Immigration

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Database Specialist - Immigration is responsible for
managing data on international students and scholars in order to 1)
maintain compliance with government regulations, 2) enhance the services
provided in the Office of International Students and Scholars, and 3)
provide statistical information for the university. This position ensures
the efficient and accurate transfer of data between the Student & Exchange
Visitor Information System (SEVIS), the fsaATLAS database, and the Student
Information System. The Database Specialist also collaborates with
technical staff and other members of the Division of Student Life to
contribute to the goals of the Division working with teams/committees on
such projects as assessment initiatives and other data management related
topics.
QUALIFICATIONS : A bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems,
Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university
and two years of previous related professional experience required.
Previous experience in higher education preferred and MCAD certification is
a plus. The person filling the position should be familiar with the use of,
or be willing to learn, specialized software including fsaATLAS, Microsoft
SQL 2000, SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System), and the
institution's Student Information System. Some familiarity with immigration
regulations a plus. Must be able to work well with a largely non-technical
clientele and to communicate effectively to staff with differing levels of
computer knowledge. Good communication skills, both oral & written, are
important.
COMPENSATION : Salary is commensurate with labor market with a minimum of
$38,159.
