URGENT HOTEL INFORMATION FOR REGION XII CONFERENCE IN LAS VEGAS (Posted 09/26/2006 @ 2PM)

The hotel rooms that Region XII has reserved at the Flamingo Hotel are almost sold out. As of yesterday, there were only 5 rooms left for Thursday, Nov. 2 and 40 rooms left for Wed., Nov. 1. We have tried to secure more rooms at the hotel at a reasonable price, but were not able to do so. This is peak convention season in Vegas—there are 17 other conferences going on in Vegas the same week as the Region XII conference.

If you are still looking for a room, here are some suggestions:

  • Las Vegas South Travel Lodge (about a mile away) at $115.00 per night and Ambassador Strip Travel Lodge for $139.00 (1-800-578-7878) both are very clean and good value during these sold out dates
  • Fairfield Inn (less than a mile away) for $132.00
  • Golden Palm Inn (about 1.5 miles away but it is a nice hotel- 3111 West Tropicana Avenue) for $109.00
  • Clarion Hotel (less than half mile away) for $169.00
  • Finding rooms via the internet is another option.

It is imperative that you book your room now as rates will continue to creep upward on a daily basis. Most hotels on The Strip are now priced from $259.00.

Attendees whose registration date occurs as of now will not be charged the additional $100 rate for the conference. Late fees will still apply after Oct. 4th.

Remember that there is District/Regional Travel Grant money available to assist you with your conference expenses. You can utilize this money to pay for your additional hotel costs. The Travel Grant deadline has now been extended to October 6. The website to apply for a travel grant is http://www.region12.nafsa.org/Conference/grant.html

It was never anticipated that all rooms for this conference would be sold out. We are thrilled that so many NAFSAns will be attending this conference, and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

The conference planners have made a special effort to make your conference registration as quick and easy as possible. You can register for the conference three ways!

  1. Register By Mail — Just download the registration form, print it, and mail it along with your payment (check or credit card).

  2. Fax Registration — Fax your registration form to 212-460-5460 and include your credit card information.

  3. On-line Registration — You can now instantly register for the conference through our on-line registration page. Payment is by credit card only.

  4. On-Site Registration — You can register at the conference for a single day or for the entire conference and workshops.

If you are entitled to any type of registration discount
or compensation, you must fax or mail in your registration
form. The online payment method does not calculate
discounts and will result in waiting for a refund.
